Mount Mascal New Year Day Show

Mount Mascal Stables welcomed the New Year of 2018 with our annual festive, fun-filled New Year’s Day Show! There was a fabulous atmosphere with horse owners and loaners alike, even some of our trusty school horses and ponies joined in on the fun with our more experienced riding school clients, which was great to see. Everyone enjoyed the comfort of our scrumptious home-made cooked food.

Our first class, the New Year Nursery Stakes saw some of our smallest competitors enjoying the first day of 2018 with their equine partners! Sinead riding her own Dodger won the first class, with Bobby Mae on Grandad Isla Moon placing second and our very own Fearne Everson on Ted placing third- Well done everyone!

The second class Santa Starterstakes saw Ben Gorman with Shakira winning first place, Sinead on Dodger took second and Erin Wynne with Dynamite Diva placed third- great riding!

Mistletoe Minimis was one of our most popular classes, so much so that it had to be split into two sections. The results from the Horse section saw Megan Palmer winning on Love Lola, Hollie Gray with May Duberry placing second and Sarah Burtenshaw with Top Banana placed third- well done to all! In the pony class the first two placings were achieved by former Mount Mascal riding school ponies: Erin Wynne on Polly Pocket Rocket won, placing second was Nia Mai Osborne with Take a Chance and Ellie Fulcher on Rainbow placed third- great jumping in this class- again well done.

Our fourth class Pantomime Pairs brought a lot of laughter and nail biting moments for spectators, particularly during the changeover of rider’s mid-course! Taking first place was Ella & Molly Cook with Ashhill Silver Sound, Connor Mclaren & Freya Moore with Millie placed second and Liam and Milly with Tetley came third- thank you for making us all laugh!

Nutcracker Novice was the fifth class and with this came more serious competition! Winning the class was SP Maher riding Coco, achieving second was Millie Hooton on Whats it all about Alfie and placing third was our very own Instructor Connor Mclaren with Rachards Diamond Lad- good job!

Class six- Ivy Intermediate was another thrilling class to watch, as the jumps increase so does the competitive atmosphere. Elizabeth Winchester won the class riding Billy, in second place for the second time of the day came Milly Hooton with Whats it all about Alfie and Connor Mclaren on Lucky Boy placed third- amazing to watch!

Our final class was by far the most exhilarating, the Puissance Pudding, with a wall height measuring just over five foot! A big congratulations to the amazingly brave competitors who took part; the winner of the class- Charlotte Dole with Harry, who started her riding career at Mount Mascal stables and former livery. In second place came our own team member Connor Mclaren on Lucky Boy his second second and Elizabeth Winchester riding Billy came third- courageous riding by all, congratulations to all!

Everyone here at Mount Mascal Stables are now looking forward to our Indoor Winter Series which continues on Friday 23rd of February and we extend a warm welcome to our local riding community.
